Rides and Introductory Packages

VSC offers two inexpensive ways to try out the sport of soaring for yourself.

Introductory Rides

Basic Trainer - $50
Rides typically last about 15 - 20 minutes. You will fly with an FAA certified commercial pilot or instructor in one of our Schweizer 2-33, two-place training gliders. You will be towed up to 2500 feet above ground level (AGL) where you will pull the release to break to free flight.

High Performance- $75 (Ride Video)

Typically last about 20 - 25 minutes. You will fly with an FAA certified commercial pilot or instructor in a K-21, two-place high performance sailplane. You will be towed up to 3000 feet above ground level (AGL) where you will pull the release to break to free flight.

On a good day you can see beyond Manhattan!. Feeling brave - ask your pilot if you can try your hand. Each person receives a certificate recording their flight. Gift certificates available.

Experience Soaring Package - $130
The package consists of 4 Flights with our certified pilots and includes 4 tows to 2500ft. Flights can be taken any time, but must be used within 1 year of purchase. The package is designed to give you a reasonable introduction to the sport of soaring - enough time in the air to decide whether its something you want to pursue further. It could be the first step to a life-time of soaring. Several of our members started out in the sport the same way.... Package certificates available too!
SCHEDULING - There is no need to schedule in advance. Just show up at the airport. All intro flights are in order of sign-up on the day and as they can be fitted in with our normal training operations.
